Q. Why install Artificial Grass?
A. Artificial Grass is perfect for todays busy, modern lifestyle. No mowing, low maintenance, no watering - coupled with safe play / pet friendly issues and many other applications makes artificial grass and mardi grass the perfect solution.
Q. Do you offer a complete supply and installation service?
A. Yes we do... from helping with design right through to full installation by our professional Mardi Grass installers
Q. What is the cost of Mardi Grass?
A. The cost varies depending on product, but less than you might think! Fully installed can be less than a top range carpet per square metre. Specific prices are detailed on the product pages in the shop online. But to give you a rough idea, mardi grass starts at just £xx with our luxurious premium Blade 40 at £XX per square metre. Depending on site, installation costs are approximately £25 per square metre, but with a minimum cost of £500.
Q. Do all grasses require sand in them?
A. Most do, but it depends on the application. Sand gives a hard wearing surface for football or kids play and gives extra weight and security to protect against pet wear. It is also much better to use sand than rubber infill which can "flick" out and can make a mess.
Q. My garden is an odd shape and has trees growing in it - can I stll have an artificial lawn?
A. We can cut and lay artificial grass to any shape, and with joints to any length. We can even cut around trees and run mardi grass right up to the trunk.
Q. Will the grass lose colour over time?
A. No, mardi grass is fully UV stabilised and will not fade from sunlight, giving you a fabulous looking lawn for years and years.
Q. How long will Artificial Grass last?
A. mardi grass is UV stabilised and can withstand heavy rain, frost, snow or extreme heat. It is guaranteed with a 5 year warranty. Well maintained it will last 20 years or more.
Q. What about maintenance?
A. Artificial Grass is extremely low maintenance. Just brush off debris and leaves as they accumulate and once a year top up sand infill with a few bags of sand - available from us.
Q. Will weeds grow?
A. As part of our installation we lay a geotextile layer under the grass which prevents weeds from growing through. So although some may seed in the sand infill - they will not have any roots so can be brushed away easily.
Q. How realistic is it?
A. Very realistic... Our mardi grass Blade 40 has been specifically designed for the UK. It looks really great and makes a fabulous lawn all year round.
Q. Can it be installed on a slope?
A. Yes, it is ideal. But not too steep as over time sand can spread down the slope and may need re-sanding from time to time.
Q. Can I change the shape later and add shrubs etc?
A. No problem. Just cut out the required area and plant away!
Q. Where does the rainwater go?
A. It is absorbed by the specialist sand in-fill, runs through the perforated rubber backing and through the sand sub-base. In fact the system is so efficient it is dry 15 minutes after the rain stops! It also means that there is no "run off" problems even during heavy storms: the water will be absorbed in to the ground directly.
Q. What are the applications?
A. The applications are numerous, the limits are your imagination! Some of the more common applications include
- Domestic gardens for low maintenance and / or a great play area
- Childrens' play areas at home, at nursery, at school
- Golf putting greens at home
- Landscaping generally
- Roof gardens
- Patios
- Around swimming pools and hot tubs
- Exhibitions and product display
- Pet exercise areas: it's very pet friendly!
Installation:
Q. What type of base do you use?
A. Normally a sand base or hardcore / sand combination depending on ground conditions.
Q. How is the grass fixed down?
A. We lay a wooden / brick / plastic edging this combined with a sand infill makes the grass heavy and secure.
Q. How is it fixed to hard floors?
A. With a special mardi grass 2-part adhesive which we can supply.
Q. Why is sand infill used?
A. It is chemically inert and fire resistant. It is a cheaper and cleaner alternative to rubber. It also does not flick out like rubber can do meaning that youngsters are not going to trample it into the house or school, or decide to try and eat it!
Q. Will it feel too hard if laid on a concrete base?
A. This issue can be avoided with a thicker, longer pile - with more spring!
Q. How long does an installation take?
A. All applications will differ - we would be happy to advise on supply and installation times during quotation. However most of our installations are completed in 3 or 4 days, with the smallest jobs taking a day or two and larger more complex projects taking a week or more.
Q. What about seams when joining rolls together?
A. Our skilled staff carefully match the colour in the pile and use specialist adhesives to give an invisible join! This plus the sand infill makes it impossible to see the join!
Q. Is your work guaranteed?
A. Yes! As you would expect from a quality supplier and installer we offer a 5 year guarantee on all our mardi grass products.
Q. Where is your service available?
A. We supply mardi grass to the whole of UK. Most of our installation work is in the Midlands and South of England, and we expanding rapidly. So just shop online or give us a call.
Q. How quickly could I have my garden or project done?
A. Generally we offer installation within 4 weeks from receipt of order - this can vary on time of year and seasonal workloads. Of course if you are home owner wanting to do it yourself, then we can usually dispatch the products from stock within two working days, ready for distribution by registered carriers.
Q. Can you also help with other landscaping issues?
A. Yes, don't panic! Our trained installers are also design landscapers and can provide quotes for any other ancillary work you may require from fencing to "hard" landscaping.
