How uninviting can tarmac be - very especially if you're a little one and wanting to play! Especially so if it's got weeds growing through it and is surrounded by high unforgiving galvanised metal fencing. Not only is it harsh to play on it doesn't look too good either.
In Small Heath in Birmingham, mardi grass Lyd were selected purposefully by the authorities to transfom this inner city old nursery. They needed a safe play area for kids that could be used all year round. They also needed seperate areas for really little ones and babies as well as toddlers.
We carefully checked and suggested the tarmac and suggetsted that the most cost effective and appropriate solution was to lay 20mm foam pads directly on to the existing base. This provided a solid but soft feel base, onto which we specified and fitted 20mm mardi grass Blade 20 for the older ones. This gave safe play and multi use games area for toddlers. For the little ones and babies we fitted the softer feel and longer pile 40mm mardi grass Blade 40: giving them a more tactile softer surface to crawl about and play on. Separating the two areas is a high quality picket free fence for added safety and convienience.
The result: a great looking new two stage facility, very happy youngsters and parents, and a superb new safe resource for the carers - making everyones life better and more fun!
